Forum Syd has over the years worked in civil society strengthening, social accountability and citizen participation issues and has already developed a methodology from experiences in Africa, Latin America, the Balkans, Kosovo, Belarus and Cambodia.
Forum Syd head office is based in Stockholm-Sweden and has seven country offices in the different countries including Kenya.
Forum Syd anticipates commencing implementation a Social Accountability project funded by DFID through DAI Europe.
The overall objective of the project is that communities that are voice-poor and marginalized have improved democratic influence and good governance at county government level.
The Project will be implemented through a collaborative effort of 2 organizations, with Forum Syd being the lead partner.
Title: Finance & Admin Assistant
Reporting to: The Finance & Admin Assistant will report to Finance & Admin Officer
Key Responsibilities for the position:-
- Preparation of timely and accurate report for project
- Preparation of payment vouchers, cheque & disbursements
- Handling of petty cash
- Bank reconciliation
- Co-ordinate and manage financial aspects of project to ensure compliance with contract obligations
- Work closely with project officer in ensuring successful implementation of project
- Provision of admin support and coordination of project procurement
- Other duties as maybe prescribed by Finance & Admin Officer
Desirable knowledge, Skills & attributes
- A degree in Finance or Accounting and CPA/ACCA certification
- 3 years progressive experience with an INGO
- Excellent skills in spreadsheet and computerized accounting systems
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Team player
- High level of Integrity
- Knowledge of working with EU and DFID funded projects will be an added advantage
Duty Station: Based in Nairobi office with occasional travels within Kenya
