Network Engineer at AFEX

AFEX wishes to recruit a competent, innovative and self-driven person to fill the following position:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the camp ICT infrastructure and VSAT connectivity, repairing and maintaining all ICT equipment as well as handle all day to day ICT issues.
The successful candidate will report to the ICT Manager.
Key Duties and Tasks:
- Co-ordinate and execute VSAT Installations and configurations in liaison with the ICT Manager.
- Liase with the ICT Manager and satellite provider during any maintenance or outages to resolve immediately, to ensure a 99.9% VSAT Uptime
- Keep a detailed log of VSAT outages and regularly e-mail the report to the ICT Manager.
- Regularly monitor and manage the client and staff bandwidth utilization and provide a weekly report to ICT Manager.
- Install and configure wireless, cable connections, staff and client LAN equipment and software as requested by ICT Manager.
- Regular and Routine maintenance of all computers in the LAN.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of all hardware & software related issues for both client and staff.
- Ensure continuous operation of servers, computers, scanners and all ancillary network equipment.
- Identify, pack and ship all faulty equipment to the Head office for verification and replacement by the ICT manager.
- Respond to all customer enquiries and provide quality support to all queries
- Maintain an inventory of all IT related AFEX Hardware and Software.
- Manage the shared folders in the Files Server and ensure staff are assigned appropriate user rights.
- Run Daily Backups of all shared folders / files in the network.
- Manage and maintain the DSTV Network.
- Train staff on usage of IT related hardware and software.
- Install and update Kaspersky Virus definition files regularly.
- Ensure all remote Cisco telephone extensions are working properly.
- Manage and maintain the Meal card automation system in the camps and provide weekly and monthly meal reports to the ICT Manager
- Ensure only staff with assigned rights have access to citrix published applications.
- Discuss with ICT manager on potential new business enquiries by current and prospective clients.
- To understand the AFEX requirement for QHSE in the workplace including employee and team responsibilities, to ensure continuous adherence to QHSE policies, procedures and work instructions and to proactively promote a quality, health and safety approach in all areas of your work.
- Work in full accordance with AFEX Group policies, procedures, work instructions and all relevant elements of AFEX Management Systems.

Qualifications:
- Degree in Information Technology
- C / Ku band VSAT and strong IP Knowledge.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in network administration.
- Excellent knowledge of Windows environments, software installations and Microsoft desktop certifications.
- Should be a hardworking, dedicated and courteous person.
