Monitoring and Evaluation Database Analyst at ACDI/VOCA
We currently seek a Monitoring and Evaluation Database Analyst for an ongoing, multi-year USAID-funded program focused on reducing poverty and hunger by improving the inclusiveness and competitiveness of the livestock value chain in Marsabit and Isiolo Counties in the arid lands of Kenya.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The M&E Database Analyst will help implement the project’s monitoring and evaluation system while assisting the MERL Advisor in tracking project indicators in order to create regular reports on project data.
S/He will undertake a wide range of support functions, including but not limited to those stipulated below:
Specific Responsibilities:
- Work with database end users to maximize the ability of the database to collect, share, and report the on the analyze data.
- To train and provide instruction to data base users on how to use the database (i.e. data entry, running queries, and how to generate output reports)
- Develop a work plan and action plan for the database management and development
- In close consultation with the MERL Advisor, establish user privileges to enhance data integrity and consistency controls there by protecting data from unauthorized use. The database analyst will be responsible for creating users and user access levels for each segment of the database.
- Train Regional and Field facilitators reporting point persons on how to use the database system effectively.
- Prepare training materials for database users.
- Ensure that the database is safe and secured
- Conduct spot checks in the field to ensure that data collected from the field have the required level of data quality and validity
- Respond to informational requests from team members regarding M&E data.
- Consolidate the collected data and enter or manage entry of data into the M&E database. In addition, the M&E Database Analyst will update project data within ACDI/VOCA global database called CaPISC
- Analyze data to identify significant trends requiring corrective action, assess possible causes, and suggest solutions based on the field findings for further improvements of activities. The M&E database analyst will draw key lessons based on the trends generated.Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual monitoring and evaluation reports and additional reports as requested by management.
- Performs any other relevant duties as requested by the MERL Advisor and/or the Chief of Party
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Holds a degree in Computer Science, IT, Statistics or other relevant quantitative area
- Advanced computer skills, specifically Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Internet and at least one statistical analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, R or STATA
- Experience writing formulas to manipulate large data sets in Excel or other statistical programs
- At least 3 years’ experience in Database management
- Has effective project management and communications skills
- Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of USAID projects will be an added advantage.
