Head of ICT at South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited (SonySugar)
South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited, a key player in the sugar industry in Kenya wishes to enhance its human capital base by filling the following senior management positions with talented and qualified Kenyan citizens:-
Head of ICT
Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will be responsible for:
ICT Strategy Development and Execution
- Participation in Sonysugar’s strategic planning process
- Develop and implement Sonysugar’s ICT strategy in consultation with the ICT Steering Committee
- Oversee development and implementation Sonysugar’s ICT policy
- Advising the IT Steering Committee and the Board on ICT policy and strategy issues
- Oversee research on emerging Information and Communication technologies and solutions for the Sugar Industry to ensure appropriate ICT investment
Development and Management of ICT Budgets
- Overseeing all IT related budgeting and planning for purchases
- Control and manage all operational and capital expenditure and ensure that it is carried out within the approved budget
- Approves, coordinates and controls all projects related to selection, acquisition, development and installation of major information systems for SonySugar.
Development and Maintenance of ICT Infrastructure and Systems
- Planning additions, retirement and major modifications to the Sony sugar’s application and infrastructure in liaison with the ICT Steering Committee and in line with global technological trends
- Ensure that design and selection of ICT applications and infrastructure supports the strategic objectives of SonySugar
- Manage the relationship with all key stakeholders both internally and externally and maintain appropriate communication with them
- Championing change and effectively managing the implementation of new initiatives
- Provide leadership to the Applications, Database and Networks & Infrastructure ICT teams
- Ensure ICT facilities meet the needs of individuals and projects
Quality, Security and Compliance
- Overall responsibility for protection of SonySugar’s information assets including overseeing development and maintenance of systems security strategies, policies and procedures for confidentiality, integrity and availability of data
- Overall responsibility of ICT disaster recover management
- Ensures that all information systems and networks operate according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards, regulatory agencies and legal requirements
Management of ICT Service Delivery
- Liaise with the all departments and outreach offices to continuously identify new ICT requirements
- Development of service level agreements between ICT and the business and ensure that these are achieved
- Lead and drive a culture of innovation and creativity in seeking ICT solutions to organizational challenges
Leading ICT Team
- Oversee all people management matters within the ICT department including staff development and performance management
- Overall responsibility for ICT staffing and capacity planning
- Identifying staff development requirements and develop, implement and maintain comprehensive user training programs
- Ensure the department meets objectives of the performance contract and cascaded individual performance goals
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualification and Experience
- A first degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent from a recognized institution
- A Masters degree in ICT or business related field from a recognized institution
- Minimum of six (6) years progressive experience in a busy ICT environment in a senior management level
- Relevant professional certifications (such as MCSE, MCCP etc)
- Exposure to the sugar or agriculture industry is desired
- Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills at various levels of management and the Board
- Understanding of the business environment and developments in ICT which impact the business
