Job Vacancy: Teaching Associate

Job Location: Western, Kenya

Reporting To: Project Specialist

Job Description: We are an international NGO with a strong footprint in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania: In these countries our 3,000+ strong staff serves over 200,000 smallholding farmers and helps them to grow their way out of hunger and poverty.

Training is both key part of our program model and key part of how we are able to work effectively at scale. Almost all staff start at the entry level for their careers track and many rise rapidly based on performance.

Your work will have a tremendous impact on the organization’s key mission of serving the smallholding farmers and also promoting career development of all the staff.

We currently have an opening for the position of Teaching Associate at our Regional Offices in western that we are inviting you to apply for.

Below are the details for the position.

Your Responsibilities

  • Be the chief trainer in one of the OAF regions (in Western)
  • Delivery of professional development and computer trainings to the Headquarters and Field Staff
  • Deliver Training of Trainers to headquarters and senior Field Staff
  • Assessment of trainers, training activities, and follow – up to solve challenges identified during the execution of TD activities.
  • Conduct staff onboarding for SFD and HQ staff
  • Assist in assessing training needs of Headquarters and Field staff
  • Plan training and personal calendar and tasks on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Write and/or facilitate trainings in the ITS format independently and include appropriate active learning strategies in any training
  • Build and oversee positive relationships with other stakeholders and secure their buy-in for Training Department activities.
  • Identify areas for self-development and create professional development plans
    Any other assignments assigned by OAF

Our Requirements

  • College level education (adult education preferred)
  • OAF field experience (desired)
  • Basic computer skills required for office-based employees
  • Fluency in English and Swahili
  • Cultural specific social awareness, communicate effectively across cultural boundaries
  • Detail orientation and ability to make independent decisions
  • Basic work organization skills: deadline focus/time management, prioritization
  • Ability to lead other employees/ basic leadership skills
  • Excellent attitude, willingness to learn and work hard, humility and ability to multi-task
