Procurement Officer at Save the Children
Role Purpose: Under the supervision of the Logistics Coordinator, deliver timely, effective and accountable procurement support to Save the Children field teams in Dadaab by coordinating effective procurement, supply management, and overseeing proper documentation of goods procured.
Your support in the delivery of an effective Procurement function will play a key role in the expansion of Save the Children programmes in Dadaab to increase impact and enable positive change for children.
Scope of Role:

Dimensions: Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since 1984, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered both directly and through local partners.
Staff Directly Reporting to this Post: Procurement /Logs Assistant
Key Areas of Accountability:
- Supporting the Logistics Coordinator in the delivery of in-country procurement and proper recording out each procurement status of the Dadaab logistics team;
- Ensuring that programme purchases are made in a timely and transparent manner, that Save the Children procurement policies and procedures are followed at an optimal quality/price, and that all procurement procedures are properly implemented;
- Supporting and participating in effective training of national staff responsible for the maintenance and efficient running of procurement, and office infrastructure;
- a monthly ‘Procurement Report’ to the Logistics Coordinator, detailing all procurement activities, and other relevant information;
- Advising the Logistics Coordinator on evolving market situations to adapt procurement activities accordingly and ensure they are in line with internal policies.
- Representing the principles and work of Save the Children to donors, United Nations, NGOs and INGOs, government, media and other stakeholders when required;
- Complying with and promoting all Save the Children Global policies such as Child Safeguarding, Whistle blowing, Fraud, and Health and Safety.

- A Diploma in Procurement and Supplies management (CIPS) or relevant area
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience of procurement support, warehousing and stock control, in large international non-governmental organisation or other international relief/development body;
- Track record of training, managing and developing staff in procurement and administrative systems;
- Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities;
- Strong communication, people management and interpersonal skills in English, with experience in leading multicultural, multi location, values driven teams;
- Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments
