Assistant Geospatial Information System Analyst at Africa Business Intellect Network (ABIN)
Location: NairobiOverview: The incumbent is responsible for the collection, management, and analysis of geospatial data.
The overall objective is to maintain a database that facilitates the use of GIS technology, geospatial analysis, and cartographic products.Responsibilities:
- Extract geographic data from satellite imagery, aerial photography and field reconnaissance
- Create geographic data and compile them into maps
- Create and maintain multiple geospatial databases
- Should be able to conduct research, analysis, and interpretation of geospatial data and information to facilitate strategic issues.
- Ability to collect, manage and analyze remotely sensed and aerial imagery is an added advantage highly desired.
- Ability to develop analytical and technical reports and publications, including creating graphics and writing significant portions of the documents.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in geography, geographic information science, environmental studies, or other relevant discipline is required.
- A minimum of two years of professional-level experience in geospatial data management, analysis, and cartographic production skills.
- Experience with web-application software (Net, Java, Python, PHP, HTML, JavaScript or Flex)
- Ability to articulate complicated GIS concepts in clear and concise terms for audiences with varying familiarity with GIS technology, geospatial data, analysis, and mapping.
