Gender Empowerment Manager at Finlays (K) Limited

Finlays is Kenya’s largest agricultural export group employing over 21,000 people and annually exporting over 300 million stems of flowers, 7 million kilos of vegetables, 26 million kilos of black tea and 3 million kilos of tea extract.
- Leading the development and implementation of James Finlay (K) Limited’s strategy to enable women’s empowerment and gender equality in conjunction with other senior staff.
- Engaging all key stakeholders, including management, staff and social committees in the promotion of all aspects of gender equality within the company.
- Promoting and communicating equal opportunity, inclusion and non-discrimination at all levels and roles within the workplace and the wider Finlay’s community.
- Developing and implementing effective gender equality training to all key target groups in company’s workforce.
- Working with the Head Office in London and Company Executives to ensure a culture of gender equality in the Company.
- In liaison with the Managing Director, ensure that all reported transgressions of the Companies’ policies are dealt with swiftly and robustly.
- Enabling the transparency, measurement and reporting of key KPI’s related to gender equality and empowerment.
- Lead effective gender analysis, ensuring the validity such data and that appropriate actions arising are taken.
- Supporting and facilitating organizational and cultural change in order to advance gender equality and parity, particularly at management and supervisory levels.
- Identifying gender based constraints and in conjunction with senior management implementing, pragmatic and robust means to tackle them.
- Ensuring, through effective policy and management the freedom, health and safety of all women from intimidation or violence.
- Assisting in enabling the redress for any forms of harassment and sexual offences at the workplace and within company’s residential areas.
- This includes investigations, reporting and enabling follow up of actions with management and external authorities.
- Bachelors degree or graduate calibre.
- Minimum 5 years’ demonstrable experience working in female empowerment, e.g. promoting and enabling women’s equality, women & children’s rights, equality advocacy and delivering gender based training. Proven experience in developing Gender empowerment strategy is critical.
- Practical familiarity with the Kenya legal environment and applicable laws is desirable, good training, investigation, analytical and advocacy skills are paramount.
- The job holder should also have good command of written and spoken Kiswahili and English.
- Demonstrated skills in project planning. Experience in proposal writing and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation methods.
- Sound computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage time effectively, work autonomously, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks; and must be a team player.
- Sound and adaptable personal style: the sensitivity and authenticity to operate effectively across different cultural, religious, gender and age groups.
- A robust, credible and tenacious personality is key as is the gravitas to influence at all levels.
