Project Officer, Accounts Assistant, Administrative Assistant at Zinduka Afrika
The organization will be implementing a project meant to enhance Mpeketoni community’s capacity in response to climate change through alternative livelihoods.
Key Functions: Project Officer is accountable for the implementation of Project, including various components of the project implementation for intermediate and final results achievements.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Implementing components of the above stated project.
- Identifying and Profiling of Community Based Organization (CBO) and other beneficiaries.
- Monitoring and Evaluating activity(s) budget, workplans and ensuring quality implementation of the Project.
- Prepare timely periodical reports and present monthly, quarterly and any other required reports of the project to the Project Co-ordinator in accordance to the set donor guidelines.
- Identify and enhance networking and collaboration in Climate change and alternative livelihoods.
- Supporting in Lobbying and Advocacy for mainstreaming of Climate change and alternative livelihoods in policies and plans in Lamu county and Kenya in general.
- Promote Gender equity in the project implementation process.
- Participate in resources mobilization / proposal writing for the purpose of Program.
- At least a first degree in Social Sciences field and 2(two) years experience in project field a Diploma in Community development with 5(five) years experience in project work in an NGO.
- A diploma in Project Management will be an added advantage.
- Extensive knowledge in Climate Change and alternative livelihoods.
Computer Skills: Strong with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.

- Offering financial and accounting support to the program on day to day basis.
- Prepare financial requests, Receive and make payments, recording, photocopying and filing of financial documents.
- Prepare and submit timely accurate and complete financial reports on monthly quarterly, midyear and annually in line with the narrative reports that meets the requirement of the project
- Undertaking data entry into the accounting software.
- Preparing donor’s statements on a monthly basis inline with budget line.
- Work closely with the finance manager to monitor budget utilization.
- Raising and issuing of cheques.
- Ensuring information and knowledge management through filing and safe custody of documents.
- Support project audit process.
- Undertaking and maintaining monthly bank reconciliations
- Any other duty assigned by the management.
- A proven track record in project accounting.
- Experience in using accounting software.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
- CPA 2 with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience preferably an NGO.
- Be conversant with accounting systems such as quick books, sage and computer literates with certificates in relevant computer package.
- Computer Skills: Strong with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.

- Welcome / Receive visitors relating to work, receive and file incoming letters, and receiving telephone calls and transferring them to the appropriate staff.
- Supply and manage office equipments, machines or properties to office and kitchen utilities.
- Schedule meetings / calendar events and remind the relevant persons on the meetings and specifically organize and maintain diary for the office and make appointments appropriately.
- Support administrative department, maintain a safe and secure work environment, and maintain good working relationships with all relevant partners and departments.
- File and retrieve organizational documents, records and reports. Perform general clerical duties to include, but not limited to, copying, faxing, mailing and filing.
- Set up and coordinate meetings and conferences and take notes or dictation at Meetings or to provide general assistance during presentations.
- Offer administrative support to the project and support in travel arrangements for staff, board and volunteers
- Prepare and Submit monthly, quarterly and any other relevant report as requested by the organization.
- Diploma in Administration, Public relations, or related field.
- Two years experience working with an NGO.
