Business Development Manager, Risk & Compliance Manager at Uwezo Microfinance Bank
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the person will be responsible for the business development and execution of Uwezo Microfinance Banks business strategy.
As a business development manager, this position will be responsible for building up a business through gaining new customers and accounts.
Business Development Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Deposit Mobilization: Mobilize deposits to match and exceed the loan book.
- Create, Implement and manage the Sacco brand strategy.
- Create awareness on new and existing products.
- Product development and review.
- Co-ordinate and oversee the development of Microfinance Bank’s income generating services.
- Identify, explore and develop appropriate new business opportunities for the Sacco – in both income generating and service provision areas.
- Preparing proposals and presentations, writing reports, providing management with market feedback.
- Ensure high level of customer service to ensure members loyalty and retention.
- Spearhead business development initiatives that are consistent with the Microfinance Bank’s overall strategy.
- Revenue generation and strategic partnerships development and management.
- Build and manage a business development team.
- Communicating new product developments to prospective clients
- Overseeing the development of marketing literature

Qualifications
- University Degree in Business Management specializing in Marketing. MBA will be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a management position.
- Experience in sales and marketing will be an added advantage.
- Computer skills (Ms Word, Excel);

Risk & Compliance Manager
The job holder will be responsible for managing the risk to the organization, its employees, customers, reputation, assets and interests of stakeholders.
He/she will review a variety of sectors and not limited to enterprise risk, corporate governance, regulatory and operational risk, business continuity, information and security risk, technology risk, and market and credit risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive Risk Assessment, which involves analyzing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business
- Prepare input for risk reports for presentation to management and the Board Audit Committee.
- Report on risk analysis where threats are identified through risk assessment & identification, and advice on risk mitigation plans of identified risks.
- Create risk awareness to managers and staff on risks relevant to their units and at individual level to enhance understanding of their accountability for their unit risks.
- Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organization.
- Advice on and ensure implementation of health and safety measures and making business continuity plans to limit risks.
- Conduct reviews/audits of policy and compliance to regulatory requirements which may include liaison with internal & external auditors, and regulators. Ensure there is adherence to statutory and reporting requirements.
- Assist in developing policy, procedure and systems for the department, including documentation where necessary, revise operations, accounting, procurement, HR and MIS manuals in order to ensure they cover all possible risks to company.
- Ensure appropriate controls and procedures are established in the key departments of organization.
- Keep abreast with latest developments in the micro finance, banking, audit and accounting fields with a view to enhancing Risk function as a key contributor to company strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
- An MBA ,CPA (K)/ ACCA qualifications will be added advantage
- 3 years relevant experience in microfinance
- Broad knowledge of the key business functions of the industry and operations.
- Thorough knowledge of financial services/Micro finance industry policies and regulatory requirements as relates to MFI institutions.
- Advanced leadership & communication skills
- Ability to institute new, revolutionary ways of strategic business approaches, risk management and control practices.
