Our mission and direction are influenced by government representatives from our 46 member countries who help guide the activities we undertake.
These include scientific publishing, development projects and research, and microbial services.
We are also leading a major new initiative, Plantwise, which aims to improve food security and the lives of the rural poor by reducing crop losses. www.plantwise.org
The job holder will become part of the Plantwise Implementation Team supporting communication and raising awareness of the programme.
He/she will be expected to work with the Plantwise national teams to provide communication support to the Plantwise Communications Manager & Plantwise Regional Coordinator for Africa.
We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated ability to synthesize technical information, and package it for different audiences to communicate intended messages effectively, including commissioning and editing work from external contributors; broad understanding of the use of science-based knowledge in agricultural extension and production; excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal and networking skills; good working knowledge of the MS Office suite of programs with advanced computing skills in publishing, formatting, and basic graphic design.
The Candidate should possess a first Degree or higher qualification in Development Communications, Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations or related areas
