Kasarani Sportsview Hotel wishes to recruit competent and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions;
Sous Chef
To assist the Head Chef in ensuring the kitchen meet the performance objective of quality food and consistency is maintained.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate food or beverage preparation and presentation.
- Ensuring that the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen is of the highest standard.
- Check taste and presentation of dishes to ensure the excellent standard of the food before putting it in the restaurant for the guest.
- Carry out menu planning and ensure leftovers are utilized.
- Administration of orders to minimize shortages and wastage and effective stock control.
- Ensure that all shifts are covered in terms of staff manpower
- Ensure that staff continuously learn and grow in terms of kitchen skills.
- Analyze recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labor, and overhead costs.
- Implement and monitor all Health Safety and hygiene practices and procedures.
- Diploma in a Culinary discipline an asset
- Minimum of 5 years solid experience
- Previous leadership experience in the culinary field required
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
The job holder will be assisting the Food and Beverage Manager in managing the department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To act on customer feedback appropriately both customer complaints and compliments.
- To ensure that the F&B department creates a professional impression to customers and team members.
- Supervision of all service staff while maintaining outstanding guest relations and customer focus in banquets and restaurants.
- Coordinate F&B operations with other hotel departments to ensure efficient guest service.
- Ensure all guest are welcomed and well attended to at all times namely during breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea breaks, and any other events.
- Apply (MBWA) management skills by walking around of entire F&B outlets.
- To promote a safe, healthy and environmentally secure environment.
- Ensure timing of service functions are adhered to for guest satisfaction.
- Ensure complete set ups are in place for seminar, banquets, dining and parties.
- Ensure opening and closing duties are adhered to.
- Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 3-4 years supervisory experience in a 4/5 star hotel.
- Excellent knowledge in the principles and practices within the F&B and hospitality profession.
- Have strong organization, leadership and management skills.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal.
The job holder will be responsible for the internal night audit work. The incumbent will process and report the Hotel’s daily transactions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Handle guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently and in a professional manner, informing guests of the Hotels facilities at check-in.
- Verify and finalize transactions undertaken during the day and make any necessary adjustments, while creating the relevant reports.
- Be in charge of all front office operations during the night time.
- Ensure accuracy of all financial information and gather all necessary paperwork to complete the audit.
- Ensure accuracy of charges to the guest folios.
- Produce all daily, weekly and monthly reports from the front office.
- Answering incoming telephone calls and taking care of any customer needs during the nights.
- Ensure night audit reports have been circulated to the relevant people timely.
- Physically check rooms shown as unoccupied and confirm status as indicated on a daily basis.
- Degree in Hotel Management or diploma in Front Office Management
- Other previous experience in hotel reservations and /or reception is an advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar position.
- Previous experience with Micros Fidelio suite8 software is preferable.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
- Other requirements: good customer service attitude, flexibility with working hours, and high integrity and good interpersonal skills

- Advocating a positive client experience: demonstrating proactive problem solving, investigating complaints and acting on feedback.
- Maintaining and developing relationships with existing and new customers.
- Track customer satisfaction and develop a retention plan.
- Carry our market surveys and market recommendation to improve service delivery.
- Create and maintain visibility for the brand.
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing option.
- At least 2-3 years working experience in hotels.
- Should be hands-on, self motivated and a team player.
- Should possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Be a self starter and be able to meet short deadlines as well as to handle pressure.
- Must be outgoing, creative and innovative.
- Customer focused and team player.
