Debt Collector, ICT Officer at Bimas Kenya
Purpose: The main purpose for the job is to handle collection of arrears on Non Performing Loans especially those falling over ninety days past due (LOSS) and any other category of loans as may be assigned from time to time.
Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the General Manager Operations the successful candidate will:
- To make follow up on arrears assigned to him and collect as per the set targets
- To work closely with credit staff in locating the defaulters, subsequent recoveries and receipting of the collected money.
- To forge good working relationships with the local administration and law enforcement agencies
- To maintain an updated database of all assigned accounts and collections done with specific dates.
- To submit detailed weekly reports to the General Manager operations on a weekly basis accounting for impact of his activities on general Loan Book on a format that shall be provided.
- To address any customer complaints conclusively within a week that arises out of his interaction with the defaulters.
- To collect loans written off and update customer balances upon such collections.
- Share and advice field staff on sound practices that shall deter default.
- Engage in other activities assigned by the General Manager Operations as shall deem necessary from time to time.
- Knowledge in legal procedures in Debt collection principles and Credit management
- Graduate in business studies will be an added advantage.
- Be aged between 25-40 years
- Demonstrate experience in debt collection
- At least 3 years experience in the financial. cooperative sector and or banking industry
- Should have good IT skills with experience or operating Microsoft office software
- Able to communicate effectively ( high customer care experience)
- Able to manage multiple tasks and Self driven
- Capacity and willingness to work long hours and within strict deadlines
Duties and Responsibilities
The ICT Officer shall be responsible for Portfolio Management and maintenance of the loan tracker in addition to providing interpretational models to all decisions, systems designs and data processing.
He/She will work closely with the Executive Director to define attainable goals, priorities, timelines, and ICT’s involvement in the realization of company goals, necessary resources, and projected costs.
Specific Duties:
Loan Tracking System and Portfolio Maintenance
- Audit and review ICT systems and practices to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations and standards.
- Ensure confidentiality and reliability of corporate data, proprietary information, and intellectual property.
- Develop systems to ensure and enhance data and information security and integrity.
- Focusing on systems improvement, recommend the development or modification of rules, policies, or standards, etc.
- Participate in establishing direction, goals, and policies. Meet with other senior managers to determine needs and challenges.
- Evaluate software and hardware products for possible purchase.
- Meet with vendors on new and existing products, evaluate usefulness and cost of products and make recommendations to the Executive Director.
- Provide technical assistance on broad company issues, services, program(s), and/or computer and telephony hardware and software, etc.
- Conduct training need assessments and recommend ICT training programs.
- Determine the resources needed to plan and implement ICT applications. Discuss requirements with end users and provide software suggestions and recommendations to users to help them understand potential limitations and challenges.
- Supervise subordinate personnel including: recommending their hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
- Contribute to general business planning regarding technology and systems required to maintain company operations and competitiveness.
- Recognize new developments in information systems technology, and anticipate organizational modifications.
- Establish long-term needs for information systems, and plan strategy for developing systems and acquiring hardware to meet application needs.
- Function as top-level contact to assist end users in determining ICT requirements and solutions.
- Develop and provide content for the organization’s web site. Perform as editor of the site’s content and gather and research information.
- Work with Information Systems staff to assess telecommunications systems capabilities, determine long-range needs and make recommendations to the Executive Director.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, make adjustments, repair and/or perform preventive maintenance on computers, telephones, and other electronic equipment, or machinery, etc.
- Install parts, equipment, lines, hardware or software, etc.; troubleshoot and make adjustments to optimize initial performance.
- Be concerned with maintenance of data flow in the system.
- Review and give final recommendation on loan applications recommended by the MEDO’s using the loan tracker.
- Act as a control mechanism and ensure checks and balances on all management information in the system of BIMAS.
- Make weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Loan, savings, Kiama and individual performance reports to BIMAS.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the ICT Manager /Executive Director.
- Diploma in IT , degree will be an added advantage;
- Professional ICT Certification by Microsoft, Cisco or equivalent will be an added advantage;
- At least 3 years experience;
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
