Data Researcher
Researcher – Media/Child RightsInternews is looking for an experienced researcher able to independently complete quantitative and qualitative research efforts in Kenya.
Key tasks:
- Provide in-country expertise for application of focused research efforts linked to a multi-year Child Rights and Media Development programme.
- Conduct/support inception-phase data gathering, including baseline studies, key informant interviews, situation/sector analysis and stakeholder mapping. • Supervise contributions by other in-country research partners.
- Maintain direct responsibility for field data quality, collection, standardization, storage and data processing/analysis for all in-country partners. • Support in-country ongoing M&E activities, ensuring standardized data collection and support to basic analysis.
- Provide training to in-country teams and partners on use of database for storage, analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management • Collaborate continually with programme team to apply research findings to evidence-based project development and design, and ongoing project management.
Qualifications:
- Academic degree in social sciences.
- Several years of work experience in research/M&E, preferably on child rights and/or media development projects.
- Able to identify and engage appropriate samples and pool of research targets, ensuring and documenting data quality procedures.
- Able to standardize data to comply with central database requirements and complete primary analysis and basic report writing.
Duration: At least six months (extension possible), starting asap.
