Job Position: Assistant Campaign Organizer

During the fall of 2012 Be the Change – Kenya (BTCKE) will be conducting a Pubic Relations and Fundraising Campaign.
(1) Three small gatherings (30 – 60 people) featuring a mix of community leaders engaged in ground-up development work and social media journalists. The events will highlight the power of the community to jumpstart change.
(2) An invitation only launch party. This event will be for supporters of BTCKE and their guests – it will celebrate our work so far and outline our future plans.
(3) A large event (150+ attendance) featuring three keynote speakers and a musical guest. This event will launch our fall fundraising campaign, invite the public to BTCKE’s 2012 group action against child-poverty and recruit potential applicants to BTCKE’s 2013 Program.
The Assistant Event Organizer will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director, Natalie Finstad as well as the entire BTCKE Staff in organizing this campaign.
Job Details
– Small Gatherings
- Assist BTCKE Staff in choosing guest speakers.
- Liaison with all venues to ensure proper set-up at events.
- Ensure speakers are on time and attended to at gatherings.
- Communicate with social media presence to ensure attendance of media-personalities.
- Manage registration: guest lists, sign-in and follow-up.
- Liaison with Audio Visual Crew at Event.
- Oversee voting process to recognize ‘Most Inspirational Speaker’ at each gathering.
- Manage logistics for event: prepare refreshments list, rent needed equipment, plan necessary transportation/parking needs.
- Oversee invitation process including guest list and registration.
- Ensure speakers are on time and attended to during the party.
- Liaison with any needed vendors (catering, tent-hires, house cleaners)
- Manage follow-up process from party.
- Manage logistics for event: prepare refreshments list, rent needed equipment, necessary transportation/parking needs.

- Manage BTCKE Young Adult Volunteers
- Applicant must have organized an event for upwards of fifty people in the past year.
- Applicant must be well versed in English and Kiswahili
- Applicant must not be working any other part-time jobs.
- Applicant must have access to cell phone and internet.
- Applicant must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
